This article explains how you can enable the Palkkaus.fi service and pay salaries yourself in Solo.
Finago and Palkkaus.fi, the leading digital payroll software in Finland, offer a self-service payroll service for entrepreneurs.
This is suitable for you if:
- You want to calculate your salaries yourself
- You are ready to take responsibility for paying the salaries correctly
- You only pay occasional salaries or one-time compensations
The service takes care of the Incomes Register notifications on your behalf and creates the payments (for example, net salaries, pension contributions and tax withholding) automatically in Solo.
Implementing the service
You can enable salary calculation directly in Solo: The left-hand side menu contains the "Salaries" item, and the program will guide you from there.
During implementation, you will make a separate digital agreement between your company and Suomen Palkanlaskenta Oy, which is responsible for providing the service. Strong authentication is required during implementation (usually with banking credentials), and the agreement is signed digitally.
After signing the document, you can start using the service. You can pay your first salaries even on the same day!
Using the service, salary calculation and payment
The user interface will guide you through all the salary calculation steps.
Making a pay slip includes four steps:
- Who is being paid? (Account number, tax card and personal information.)
- For what period? (Salary period, working days, holidays and absences.)
- How much to pay? (Also holidays and pay allowances.)
- Expenses, benefits and deductions
When you have created the payslip, you can transfer the salary for payment. The payments are directly transferred to the "Payments" view in Solo, and the receipt of the salary payment produced by Palkkaus.fi is attached to the payment.
Salaries, withholding tax, pension contributions and other items appear as separate payments in Solo, which means you can pay them on different due dates.
When you have made the payments generated by the service, the service will automatically send all the necessary notifications (for example, to authorities and the Incomes Register).
Automatic transfer of payroll reports to the accountant
The Palkkaus.fi service submits the salary reports to the accountant automatically as a journal receipt on your behalf as part of the accounting material.
In other words, when you send the accounting material from Solo at the end of the month, a summary of the salaries paid through the Palkkaus.fi service is automatically sent to the accountant with the rest of the accounting material. The original report is not sent to the accountant's Procountor as such from the Palkkaus.fi service, but the information is submitted as a summary with the accounting material.
In addition, you can download a separate calculation report for each payslip from the service (employer's calculation, social calculation, employee's calculation). The report can be found under Salaries > Reports > Payslips.

Handling reports generated by Palkkaus.fi in Procountor
The reports are automatically sent to Procountor as a journal receipt, equipped with default posting settings. The accountant checks the postings and imports the data to accounting.
